How to Take Your Measurements
For most accurate measurements:
- Stand up straight with your weight distributed evenly. Your feet should be hip-width apart.
- It's preferable to have someone else measure you, particularly for measurements above the waist.
- Take care not to hold the measuring tape too loosely or pull it too taut.
Waist
- Measure around the narrowest part of your torso.
- Generally, your waist will be at the level of your belly button.
- Make sure that the measuring tape is parallel to the floor.
Chest
This measurement requires another person.
- Measure around the fullest part of your chest.
- The measuring tape should pass just below the armpit and over the shoulder blades.
- Make sure that the measuring tape is parallel to the floor.
Shoulder Width
This measurement requires another person.
- Locate the points of each shoulder. These bones sit at the outer junction of your shoulder blade and collarbone.
- Measure across your back from one shoulder point to the other.
Sleeve
This measurement requires another person.
- This is a three -point measurement.
- Bend your elbow at a 90-degree angle.
Measure from:
- The nape of your neck, which is the center back at the base of your neck to
- The end of your shoulder at the top of your arm to
- Your wrist bone
Hip
- Measure around the fullest part of your hips, usually where your butt is the fullest.
- Make sure that the measuring tape is parallel to the floor.
Thigh
- Measure around the fullest part of your thigh, just below your crotch.
- Make sure that the measuring tape is parallel to the floor.
